These pictures show the food that I like to eat, rice balls and spaghetti. They give me a taste of my childhood, when I was young I like to eat rice balls and spaghetti. And maybe also Japanese foods like sushi. My mother would usually cook for me if she has the ingredients she needs to make these. I like the rice ball because of the chewy texture and the taste of the soup, especially with black sesame in it. She cooks the spaghetti with tomato, hot dog pieces, minced pork and cheese on top and put it in the oven for 30 seconds and the cheese will melt. It has a nice and unique taste to me every time I eat it and I makes me crave for some more.

Date: 18/4/2014 ( Date when I started, haven't posted it yet )

International Friendship Day to me, is a day where everybody from different countries, races and religions get together to form a strong and unbreakable bond of friendship all around the world. They would help each other in many different forms of ways and be there for each other no matter what. On that day, we can learn more about people's unique cultures from different countries, their religion and what do they do. People wears different clothes, have different taste and ways of thinking. We should appreciate who they are and not tease them in a way that is insulting their traditions and culture. All of us has a different and unique culture and we can share our differences and ways to other people.

Struggles and how I overcame it(Draft 2)

Draft 2

The week before I had my PSLE, I was anxious about it. I had to revise the subjects thoroughly for my PSLE, my parents forbid me to watch the television, play computer games and use my phone. I had to bare a week or two waiting for PSLE to be over so that I can do what I wanted to do after the examination. I said to myself that PSLE is coming...

I was not confident about getting good marks for the examination. When I sat down for the examination the first day, I was scared that I might fail for the examination, my heart was pumping non-stop, the pressure was tense. I couldn't stop thinking about the negative thoughts that might happen to me. I gave in my effort and tried my best to complete the examination paper for the first day. The only positive thought I could think of is getting outstanding marks with flying colours. As time passes by, each day, I gain confidence of doing my examination papers. That is how I had the confidence to do my papers. The subject that dislike most is Mother Tongue.

Sometimes if there is still time after the papers are handed in and the bags are received, the teacher would tell the students taking the examination jokes to release the stress and encourages us to do well for the next paper. I learned that the teachers not only teaches us but they help and want us to do well and have a good future. The teacher only scolded us for a good reason.

The teachers also gave us additional supplementary with extended hours before PSLE to get ready. I promised myself to work hard for the test, so, after school when I am dismissed, I tend to run home and revise for my next subject. When PSLE is over, I thought to myself : Finally, PSLE is over! I could do anything that I want for the two to three months. But I couldn't be completely sure of that, could I? There's more... the results for the examination, everybody in my class dared not to open the letter containing the results that we received at school. All of my classmates predicted they did badly. I was afraid of opening it but I had to know my marks. I opened it and saw my results, it was devastating for me. A number, 192, was written on it. I had to also choose my school, that was a problem for me and my parents. And I ended up in Chong Boon Secondary School.

Reflection

Topics:
  • How are EL so far?
  • How am I doing in EL?
  • How can the teachers help?
The English lesson is not too bad, there is still a lot more to learn about English. I do enjoy English lessons and it is sometimes interesting. English is one of my favourite subjects because there are some stories that appear in comprehension open-ended or worksheets that I like mostly when its interesting. I am doing good and not bad for my English but I would like to improve more and achive my goals. I would like to score well for my English because English it is an important subject. I would not only like to score well for English but for other subjects too. The teachers could help me by giving activities for grammer and vocabulary. I am weak at comprehension, so the teachers could also explain and emphasize more on how to score well for comprehension. I hope I can improve English.

The Story of a File

Name:Damien
Class:1E1
Date:5/2/2014

Hi, my name is Filey and i'm... well... a file. I got a story to tell you, something that happened to me when i was just bought. Well, it all started at the Popular bookshop.

"Mom. Mom. I want this file for my Science worksheets, could you buy this one for me? It has a variety of splendid colours that matches. Please buy this file for me. "exclaimed Mary. Her Mother replied," Of course you can have it, at least its for school worksheets. You can use this to help you revise the chapters of Science after you have filed up your work." Mother gave the money Mary needed to buy the file and she dashed to the counter once she grabbed the money. After buying the file, Mary and her Mother went home so that Mary can start filing up her work.

"I'm going to name you Filey since your a file. "Mary said at home while filing. The next day when she went to school, her classmates was jealous of her spectacular looking file, especially Cheryl, her classmate that always makes fun of her. Cheryl stared at the file, thinking how the file matches Mary's elegance. Cheryl thought she was one of the cool kids and never dared making fun of her again. She envied Mary and thinking repeatedly about having a fancy looking file like hers. A few months later, when it was Mary's birthday, her family and siblings came to her house a celebrated Mary's birthday.

Everybody that attended Mary's birthday gave her presents of all shapes and sizes. She was thankful just by seeing how many boxes of presents they had gave. She opened all her presents leaving her Grandmother's present, Mary had loved her Grandmother always and she reserved this present for the last. After she opened the presents, its time to open her Grandmother's present. When she opened, she saw a file in there but Mary did not always liked it because it looked rather old. Her Grandmother said, "You always wanted a file right? Well, heres one." She did not want to make her Grandmother upset or disappointed so she kept and used it.

The day after her birthday, at school, she brought her old looking file that her Grandmother had given to her and left the one that she always brought at home. Cheryl, being a busybody, went to her desk and saw her file, she burst out of laughter and went telling other classmates about it. When all of her classmates knew about this, they all laughed at her. Poor little Mary was sad and she sobbed at a corner. One day, she picked up the courage she needed and told her Grandmother, "Grandmother, to be honest, i really don't like the file that you gave me at my birthday, i'm sorry. I actually have a file already and I liked it very much." Her Grandmother laughed and lauded, "You don't have to be sorry, you have grown up and you also have the courage to tell your own Grandmother. Don't worry about that file i gave you, you can use the previous one that you have."
